Assisted Living

Assisted Living is a residential and social setting where each individual can receive as much or as little care as needed. An Assisted Living residence allows people to maintain their personal best by pairing independence and stimulating social activities with support – including residential services, medical supervision, and personal care assistance.

Aging in Place

Maturing is a natural process that extends over a lifetime. When an environment adapts to meet the evolving needs of older people, they are more likely to remain in familiar surroundings. “Aging in Place” allows comfort and continuity throughout those changes. With our “Aging in Place” orientation, most residents can choose to live with us as long as they desire.

Financial Freedom

We are proud of our policy, which allows luxury you can afford. An individual can “age in place” with the knowledge that, should assets be depleted, they can continue to enjoy the safety and comfort of their Amber Court Assisted Living Community residence. Ask a Community Representative to discuss this policy with you.

Medical Supervision

Our Communities provide all residents with comprehensive health services. Each community has a professional team specializing in most medical areas, with routine visits, on-site nursing, therapies and medication management when needed, all contribute to making excellent care easily accessible.

Memory Care

The Amber Court of Westbury community offers a private and secure wing for specialized memory support called The Alcove. The Alcove is a highly customized and individually personalized memory care program that specializes in helping aging adults manage Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia and other memory-related cognitive disorders.

Personal Care Assistance

We understand and respect each person’s individuality and needs. Which is why we meet with each new resident and their family and conduct an assessment prior to move-in. Our high level of personalized support enables seniors to age in place and with discreet, compassionate and appropriate care.

Medicaid Funded
Assisted Living

Individuals needing a higher level of personal care may be eligible for Medicaid funding.

Loosely defined, Assisted Living is the union of residential needs and supportive care provided in a social environment. It is generally geared for the 65-plus population and designed to safely maximize independence. The model can be likened to a “senior citizen hotel”. While there are great advantages to this lifestyle, many would find the expenses extend beyond their financial reach.

However, for those who qualify, there is an affordable option – the Assisted Living Program (ALP). It serves people who are eligible for nursing home placement in a setting that is less medically intensive and more cost effective. Typically, ALP candidates struggle at home with activities of daily living (ambulating, eating, bathing, dressing, transferring, maintaining hygiene, etc.) While these individuals would clearly benefit from help, they would be considered too high functioning in a medical-model skilled care facility.

By utilizing community based Medicaid and monthly Social Security or S.S.I. entitlements, participants are provided with: personal care, room, board, housekeeping, supervision, home health aides, various types of therapy, case management and other vital services. It should be noted that some medical issues exceed levels that the ALP can address such as a need for continual nursing care. Additionally, ALP residents cannot be chronically bedfast, chairfast, or impaired to the degree that they endanger the safety of other residents.

Some individuals have been approved for a Medicaid Managed Long Term Care Program and can be transitioned into the Assisted Living Community, when appropriate. Along with our Amber Court Representative and professional staff, eligibility requirements both medically and financially can be discussed.
